Dr. David Wilson

Dr. Wilson earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, minoring in Mathematics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. He went on to work in the field of water energy as well as in research at UT Southwestern medical Center studying with Dr. Brett Giroir’s lab. Wanting to pursue a career in health, he enrolled at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s Dental Branch. It was there that he served with the Christian Dental Fellowship in weekly meetings as well as annual mission trips home and abroad. Dr. Wilson received the Merit award in Prosthodontics and acquired an interest in special needs and medically complex patients. Following dental school, Dr. Wilson pursued his interests in dentistry at UNC Chapel Hill in their General Practice Residency. It was here that Dr. Wilson was able to learn more about medically complex and special needs patients as well as trauma. Taking multidisciplinary approaches allowed him to work with people battling cancer, transplants, hemophilia, and dementia among disorders and diseases. When not in the office at Summit Dental, Dr. Wilson treats patients with special needs at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.

Dr. Wilson enjoys getting to know his patients and community. He also enjoys time with family and friends. You may see him on the river kayaking, fly fishing or hiking on a hillside. Being from Irving, TX (original home of the Dallas Cowboys), you may also catch him talking about his love for SMU sports or other Dallas area teams. His passion for SMU stems from his 4 years of drumline and basketball band experiences as well as their generosity in his education.

Dr. Wilson started his career serving 3 years in community health. Most recently, he served in Guatemala with a medical missions team from Nashville, TN. He has also served in Honduras, Mexico, and local ministries in Dallas, Houston, Asheville, Johnson City, and Chapel Hill. He also served in Ogema, MN at the White Earth Health Center with the Indian Health Services. Every summer Dr. Wilson enjoys volunteering as a camp counselor with a Youth Camp in South Carolina.
