Veneers are extremely thin shells of porcelain or resin that fit onto the front of your teeth.  They are always custom made to ensure a perfect fit and color match. Porcelain is an excellent choice of material because it mimics the look and durability of real teeth.  Veneers are most often used to change the look of teeth by masking irregularities, or providing a different or more constant color.

 

The entire process usually takes two or three visits.  First, you’ll speak with Dr. Wilson or Dr. Rinehart about the issues you are hoping to address with veneers, and the results you are imagining.  The more specific you can be, the better. That way, Dr. Rinehart or Dr. Wilson will be able to tell you if veneers can meet your expectations, or if another approach might be more suitable. If veneers are the best choice, the actual process of ordering and applying the veneers begins.

 

A tiny amount of enamel will be removed from the front of the tooth being fitted with a veneer. (That way, when the veneer is applied, your tooth will be consistent with surrounding teeth). The doctor will then take an impression of your tooth and send it away to the lab to create a custom veneer for you. When the veneer returns from the lab it will be fitted and bonded to your tooth with a resin cement.  Now you can enjoy your beautiful new smile.
